Responding to today’s announcement from the Government on plans for the expansion of nuclear power, Energy UK’s Deputy Director Kisha Couchman said:

“Today’s Civil Nuclear Roadmap reiterates the critical importance of nuclear power as a reliable, low-carbon, domestic source of energy in our transition to a decarbonised power system. If we are to strengthen the UK’s energy security and meet our Net Zero targets, we will need to rapidly scale up all forms of low-carbon power, including large nuclear and small modular reactors, by ensuring there are viable routes to market for new projects and a resilient supply chain.’
