Privacy Policy & Cookies

Your Privacy Matters: Our Commitment to Protecting Your Personal Information

What information do we require from you?

For the service we provide, we will ask for or collect:

  • General contact information (name, address, phone number and email address)
  • Details of your chosen payment method (bank account connected with the account)
  • Your IP address, location information and browsing information while on our site (anonymised)
  • Your contact preferences (whether you prefer being contacted via email for example)
  • If you contact us by phone, we may record the call for employee training purposes
  • Meter readings will be kept by the supplier, but we may receive some information on trends

Why do we need this information, and who do you share it with?

We require your personal and contact information to be able to give you an accurate quote, and to get in touch with you about it. In the event of a contract being signed, there may be some extra information that we take. This all falls under legitimate interests, and we don’t ask for more than would be reasonable.

We only share your personal information with our partnered business service providers, relevant to the service you sign up for.

We also store this information in case there is an issue we have to contact you for.

In regards to browsing information, we use this to improve our service and better advertise ourselves to customers. Your data is completely anonymised in this instance, as we only look at rough trends (e.g. our popularity in certain industries, locations and times of the year.)

Unless you explicitly ask us not to, we may contact you via phone or email with information on our products and services.

To opt out of receiving this extra information, or us using your browsing information for marketing purposes, you can write to or email us. Our details are available at (BetterUtilities.co.uk/contact?)

How long will we keep it?

We will securely store your information as long as required for statistical reasons. However, individuals can make a request for the ‘right to be forgotten’ verbally or in writing. In this event, we will destroy your data within 1 month.

Are there any other third parties involved?

Our suppliers may pass on your information to a credit reference agency (CRA) to verify your financial history. They do this to assess whether you are eligible for a contract. We don’t have access to this information.

The CRA will be sent further information in the event of a payment not being made on time.
